Detailed history has not yet been added for this type. Swept-wing jet fighter first flown in 1950; built under licence in Poland as the PZL-Mielec Lim-5 and in China as the Shenyang J-5, and flown by air forces across Eastern Europe during the Cold War. Polish-built Lim-5 1211, now registered SP-MIL, flew again in April 2026 after restoration and is the only airworthy MiG-17 in Europe.
